What are the optional leaders’ Problem of Practice (PoP) sessions?
The optional Problem of Practice (PoP) Sessions will focus on barriers and challenges associated with implementing change. Leaders will collaborate to discuss challenges and viable solutions.
These sessions will cover common barriers discovered at pivotal points in the pilot.
The topics and focuses of these PoP sessions will cover the following:
- Launch, Operational, Initiating Focus: Discuss barriers to logistics/operations, general concerns regarding teacher training and buy-in.
- A Closer Look at the RBIS: Examine and reflect upon how the content RBIS are evident within the TEKS and pilot materials.
- Early Implementation: Discuss barriers with operational items, struggles with understanding the new materials and how the practices “fit-into” already existing structures.
- HQIM Assessments: Learn about best practices and real-world application of aligned assessment systems that support HQIM implementation.
- Implementation, Institutionalizing Focus: Barriers connected to assessments and predictability of STAAR performance, TEKS alignment/scope and sequence of the instructional materials will be covered. Districts with stronger implementation tend to be focused on how to further support/develop teachers and coached through embedded professional learning during this phase.
- Late Implementation, Institutionalizing Focus: Examine and discuss common barriers and challenges associated with the expansion of HQIM implementation and identify next steps.
